Tomorrow The Green Grass
One of most beautiful pieces of music ever written? I think, I really do, but as LeVar Burton politely stressed during the climax part of Reading Rainbow, “You don’t have to take my word for it…” I instantly thought, and I can’t help but to cringe when I think about describing the melody like this, but I hear singers Mark Olsen and Gary Louris’s voices being molested by Elton John. No homo.
Don’t know why I never got into them before now but then again I don’t know why I do, don’t do, lots of things. Better late than never.
Did I just use that phrase!? Rock bottom my friends, proof. Good thing this song sounds like a sad optimism, my favorite kind. As I sit here desperate for redemption for speaking this brand of crazy to you I can only hear the advice of the beautiful Ferris Bueller at the end of his “Day Off” echoin’ through my mind.
“Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.”
